Pre-purchase survey
Independent condition inspection before you commit, with defects, priorities and practical next steps.
Request this survey
Request an independent marine surveyor in Costa Rica for a yacht purchase, insurance, valuation, damage or specialist assignment. Matching starts with Guanacaste, the Central or Southern Pacific, exact marina or yard, haul-out capability and any Costa Rican registration or technical-inspection requirement.
A pre-purchase inspection is not the same assignment as a tonnage measurement or commercial-code survey. We keep the scope clear from the beginning.

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.
You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.
For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Most established yacht-marina activity is on the Pacific coast, but the principal facilities are separated by significant travel. Give the exact marina, vessel dimensions and presentation plan and identify whether the work is private or intended for a Costa Rican authority.
A principal cruising and sportfishing region. Confirm gate access, lift capacity, contractor permission and travel between Papagayo and Flamingo.
Find a surveyor in this region →Private marinas and commercial-port areas have different access. State the exact facility, yard booking and authority for a sea trial.
Find a surveyor in this region →A distinct sportfishing and cruising centre. Confirm whether the required lift, machinery support and specialist access are available for the vessel.
Find a surveyor in this region →Long travel and smaller facilities make planning essential. Confirm haul-out, safe access and whether the vessel must move within the gulf.
Find a surveyor in this region →This is a separate and more limited leisure-yacht market. Verify port controls, local yard capability and surveyor travel before appointment.

A surveyor may travel, but these are separate operating areas. The actual vessel location, yard capability, travel time and any accommodation should be agreed before appointment.
Not automatically. Costa Rican rules require technical review by the maritime transport authority in defined registration, engine-change or vessel-dimension cases. Confirm the required process and document before instruction.
Potentially, but local leisure-yacht facilities and haul-out options are more limited than at the main Pacific marinas. Surveyor travel and a workable presentation plan must be confirmed first.
Only when expressly included. Road or air travel, accommodation, yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist testing can be separate.
The client appoints and instructs the independent surveyor directly after agreeing scope, fee, timing and terms. Costa Rica Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.
Potential assignments include sportfishing-vessel inspections, pre-passage condition checks, engine diagnostics & oil analysis, rig & mast inspections, moisture, osmosis & corrosion, damage & grounding investigation, sea trials & delivery acceptance, registration & technical inspections. Availability depends on the location, vessel and required specialist capability or formal appointment.
Select the country where the vessel is located, or send the exact port, marina or yard so the assignment can be reviewed.
Tell us the vessel, Costa Rican location and reason for the survey. We can help clarify access and report requirements before you request an introduction.
